The cheapest way into a current-generation iPhone in Bangladesh. It is also the one with the compromise Apple works hardest not to discuss.
The iPhone 16 costs ৳1,21,999 in Bangladesh through official channels, with grey market units around ৳95,000. It runs the A18 chip, supports Apple Intelligence, and carries a 48MP main camera with Camera Control. Its display refreshes at 60Hz, unlike the Pro models.

No memory card slot, so storage is fixed at purchase for the life of the phone. 128GB fills faster than people expect once iOS, apps and a few years of photos accumulate — if you have the choice and the budget, 256GB is the safer buy. Ask a grey seller which capacity a quoted price covers, since the difference between configurations is several thousand taka.
This is the thing to understand before spending ৳1,21,999, and no retail listing in Bangladesh mentions it.
The iPhone 16 refreshes its display 60 times per second. Apple reserves 120Hz ProMotion for the Pro models. Meanwhile the Galaxy A16 5G at ৳23,999 does 90Hz, and the Redmi Note 14 at ৳25,999 does 120Hz.
You notice it when scrolling. Text and images move in visibly smaller steps than on a 120Hz phone. Whether that bothers you depends entirely on what you are used to — coming from an older iPhone you will not notice at all; coming from a 120Hz Android you will notice immediately and permanently.
It is not a reason to avoid the phone. It is a reason to look at one in a shop before you commit a lakh and a half.
The A18 chip is the real answer. It is the same generation of silicon as the 16 Pro Max, on a 3nm process, and it is meaningfully faster than anything in the Android mid-range. More importantly it has the memory and neural engine capacity to run Apple Intelligence — the on-device AI features covering writing tools, photo cleanup and the rebuilt Siri.
That matters for longevity. The iPhone 15, one generation older, cannot run Apple Intelligence at all. Buying the 16 puts you on the right side of that line.
The 48MP main camera is genuinely good, with sensor-shift stabilisation and a 2x mode that crops from the full-resolution sensor rather than upscaling — so it stays sharp in daylight. There is no dedicated telephoto lens. Video, as always with iPhones, is a class above Android at similar money.
Apple moved the whole line to USB-C, which is welcome. On the iPhone 16 that port runs at USB 2 speeds — 480 megabits per second, the same as the old Lightning connector.
For charging it makes no difference. For moving a few hundred 48MP photos or a long 4K video to a computer, it is slow enough to be irritating. The Pro models run USB 3 at twenty times that speed. If you transfer large files by cable regularly, factor it in.
The gap is around ৳27,000, narrower proportionally than on the Pro Max but still substantial.
The context is the same as every iPhone here: Apple operates no service centres in Bangladesh, so neither price buys you Apple-run repair. The official premium buys a distributor-administered warranty and a BTRC-registered IMEI.
The BTRC point is the one I would not compromise on. An unregistered handset can be blocked from local networks. Whatever route you choose, verify the IMEI before paying.

Apple removed the physical silent switch that had been on every iPhone since 2007 and replaced it with a programmable button. Most people leave it set to mute and never think about it again, which wastes it. Assign it to the camera, to a shortcut that starts a voice memo, to the torch, or to opening a specific app. On a phone where everything else is a tap through the screen, one physical button that does the thing you do most often is worth setting up properly on day one.
Official units come through Apple’s authorised distributor and retailers including Apple Gadgets, Gadget & Gear and Pickaboo. EMI over twelve months puts this near ৳10,200 a month.
Grey stock is widely available at Bashundhara City and online. Verify the IMEI with BTRC, confirm the phone is not activation locked, and check the SIM tray — US-market iPhone 16 units are eSIM only.
